Meet Austin.  He’s the boyfriend of one of the seniors I photographed last fall.  We had such a blast… love this kid, his mom and little brother (who ended up assisting me with my reflector… I’m considering hiring him as 1) he’s naturally talented at finding the light and 2) he works for burgers and milk shakes.)

OKAY PEEPLE… I would like to be updating my blog ALL THE TIME, but at this point in time in my life, without going into too much whiney detail about how busy my life is, my life is busy.

Sooooo… I’d like to catch everyone up with what is going on in Jenna’s World (the seeming pink fuzzy land filled with rainbows and lollipops.)  I woke up this morning with the need to BLOG, to reach out, connect via internet in a way that I cannot on Facebook or on Twitter.  Good bloggers blog everyday… I haven’t been a good blogger because I haven’t made time for it because I’m making time for everything else that is going on in my life like…

1.  Studying to become a Certified Profession Photographer.  It’s a very intensive exam that I’m preparing to take May 1.  I’ll also have to submit 20 images from twenty different paid jobs that will be scrutinized.  (Who like to be scrutinized?  Not me, but if that’s what it takes…)  It’s a very difficult examination which many people don’t pass, and then if they do… sometimes the work they submit doesn’t pass.  It’s not a requirement to be a photographer.  Anyone with a camera can be a photographer.  In fact, very few photographers actually are CPPs.  But you see… it’s important to me to become better at and understand my craft because I love it so much.

2.  I’m working out more… I’m really out of shape.  When I got to the point where I was having a hard time lugging all my gear and my weight was inching towards pre-Weight Watchers proportions, I knew I had a problem.  My goal:  to look good in a sleeveless shirt and to be able to keep up with the seniors I shoot.  (And maybe not be asked me when is my baby duehello, like 7 1/2 years ago?! I hate when I get asked that.  But really… I have this whole bad slouchy posture thing going, weak core muscles… it’s not good… I don’t totally blame people for thinking that.)

3.  Homeschooling my 13 year old… luckily Dad is helping out a lot in that department.  It’s amazing how a financial genius, like my husband is, is good with numbers and is an excellent math teacher.  (BTW… he’s working from home too these day.  As a side note:  The Whidby’s have pretty much a zero commute to work.  Wonka wonka!)

4.  And then there is the daily business with my business… I love it… and I am really in love with my accountant, Jay Dingle, who I was able to hand all our 2010 tax stuff that I hadn’t kept up with last year until, Monday of this year, which my new New Year’s Resolution is to ‘keep current with my books in 2011′, which given how small I keep my business should be easy… but I have that whole ‘I like to do fun stuff instead of my bookkeeping’ thing going which ends up not being too fun in the end when I’m trying to remember what this thing was for or that.  (Deep breath… run on sentences always make me out of breath… which you’d think with all of this cardio I’m doing, I’d have a greater lung capacity by now.)

And shoots… I’m still shooting… actually photographing really HUMAN BEINGS… which is seems like only 10% of all the time I spend working on the business.  90% is keeping up with everything else businessy… emails, editing, managing multiple web venues, developing new lines of product for my customers… yadda yadda bunch of other stuff.

5.  Oh… and I have to hug my children… a lot.  I need to stop everything I’m doing to give them my undivided attention to listen about their day, to hear their stories about how fast a Ferrari can go from 0 to 60, or how awful someone’s day was because she told her friends that she didn’t like the game they were playing and then those two friends decided not to speak to her for the remainder of recess.  More hugs and kisses.

I am a bless woman.  I have a small business that I have crafted to keep me at home, so not only can I make beautiful pieces of art that feeds my soul, but I can also be present to my family to feed their soul.  How good is that?  But with EVERYTHING that is going on, I’m not keeping up with EVERYTHING, so…

…there ya go… that’s what’s going on with my life, so what’s up with you?

(But for realz… studying for this exam… kickin’ my butt.  My goal is to pass the exam THE FIRST TIME.  No pressure, right?)
